How effectively are your policy documents governed?

Effective policy governance leads to good policies and procedures. Good policies and procedures lead to consistent operational practices that can support legislative compliance and bring your organisation’s values to life.

Ask yourself the questions below to get a sense of how robust your policy governance practices currently are:

• Are your policy documents developed in a systematic way that ensures genuine consultation and forethought of implementation factors?

• Are clearly defined roles and responsibilities established and are these responsibilities actually being met?

• Do the people affected by a policy document know it exists, and know how to comply with it?

• Are your policy documents maintained so that they are reliable?
